Mark Slezak, Board Chairman
Chief Executive Officer, Lurie Investments, Inc.
Mr. Slezak is the Chief Executive Officer and Board member of Lurie Investments, Inc. As such, Mr. Slezak oversees financial activities for the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Family of Chicago. He is Chairman of the Board at NanoInk and a member of the Board of Directors at Ardesta and numerous other private companies and foundations. Since 1979, Mr. Slezak has held various accounting and financial positions with Arthur Rubloff & Company and Equity Group Investments, Inc., a privately held investment company and originator of the country's largest publicly held REITs. From 1989 to 1996, Mr. Slezak held the position of Senior Vice President and Treasurer of EGI. He has been a director of EGI since 1997 and of its affiliate, American Classic Voyages, since 1998. Mr. Slezak is also a managing member of several investment funds investing in venture and public markets. He holds a BSBA degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois.
Jeff Crisan
Director, Bain Capital Ventures
Prior to joining Bain Capital Ventures, Mr. Crisan worked at Bain Capital Private Equity, focusing primarily on technology and healthcare investments, including software, semiconductors, telecommunications, business services, and healthcare services. Prior to Bain Capital, Jeff was a consultant with Bain & Company. Jeff received an M.B.A with Distinction from Harvard Business School and a B.A., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa in Mathematics and Government from Dartmouth College.
Andre de Bruin
Mr. de Bruin has more than 35 years of global healthcare industry experience spanning the bio-pharmaceutical, medical device and diagnostics markets. Prior to his retirement in 2004 as executive chairman of Quidel Corporation's board of directors, de Bruin served as the company's CEO from 1998 until 2001. He was president and CEO of Somatogen and was elected chairman in 1996. Prior to joining Somatogen, de Bruin was chairman, president and CEO of Boehringer Mannheim Corporation, a global healthcare concern subsequently acquired by Hoffman-La Roche. Past experience includes advisory services for Ferrer, Freeman and Company LLC and various boards of directors. De Bruin graduated from the University of Potchefstroom in South Africa, where he earned a BS in finance, economics and business.
Chad A. Mirkin, Ph.D., Co-Founder
Director, Northwestern University Institute for Nanotechnology
Dr. Mirkin is a scientist and pioneer in the development of ultra-high sensitivity and selectivity assays based upon nanostructures. He is currently the Director of the Northwestern University Institute for Nanotechnology and one of the most influential people in the field of nanotechnology. Dr. Mirkin received his undergraduate training at Dickinson College (B.S., 1986) and his graduate training at the Pennsylvania State University, where he completed his Ph.D. in chemistry in 1989. That same year, he moved to MIT as a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow. Mirkin joined the faculty at Northwestern University in 1991. Mirkin has won numerous awards for his research. These include: The Leo Hendrik Baekeland Award, the ACS Award in Pure Chemistry, the Materials Research Society's Outstanding Young Investigator Award, the E. Bright Wilson Prize, an NSF Young Investigator Award, and an A. P. Sloan Foundation Fellowship. He recently was elected as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is the author or co-author of more than 130 publications and 20 patents, serves on the editorial advisory board of six chemistry journals, and is an active consultant with several major chemical companies.

James Nahirny
Managing Director, Bain Capital Ventures
James Nahirny is a Managing Director of Bain Capital Ventures, where he leads the healthcare investing activities. Prior to Bain Capital Ventures, James was a Partner at McKinsey & Company, the global management consulting firm, where he worked closely with the senior management and boards of his clients on a broad range of strategic and operational issues. Before joining McKinsey, James was in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group at the investment bank First Boston. James received an M.B.A. with High Distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was named a Baker Scholar, and a B.A. magna cum laude from Yale University.
Jeff Randall
Financial Consultant
Mr. Randall has served as a member of our board of directors and the chairman of the audit committee since September 2008. Mr. Randall is a financial consultant and also serves on the boards of the following healthcare companies: Tengion, Inc., Opexa Therapeutics, Inc., Athersys, Inc., Acorda Therapeutics, Inc. and Rapid Micro Biosystems, Inc. Mr. Randall previously served as senior vice president-chief financial officer of Eximias Pharmaceutical Corporation, a development stage provider of oncology therapeutics. Mr. Randall held the same position at i-STAT Corporation, a manufacturer of medical diagnostic devices, which was acquired by Abbott Laboratories in 2004. His career also includes senior management positions at CFM Technologies, a semiconductor manufacturing equipment company; Greenwich Pharmaceutical Corporation, a development stage provider of immune system disease therapeutics; and Surgilase, a provider of surgical lasers to hospitals and clinics. Mr. Randall received a B.S. in accounting from The Pennsylvania State University and an M.B.A. from Northeastern University.
Sheli Z. Rosenberg
Retired Chief Executive Officer, President and Vice Chairwoman, Equity Group Investments, Inc.
Sheli Z. Rosenberg is the retired Chief Executive Officer, President and Vice Chairwoman of Equity Group Investments, Inc. She joined Equity in 1980 as General Counsel. Equity is a Chicago-based, privately held investment company whose $10 billion in annual revenues is generated from 27 privately held companies, direct controlling interests in 15 publicly traded corporations, and 600 property real estate portfolio. Ms. Rosenberg has been instrumental in the structuring and managing of six investment funds with total assets of over $2 billion resulting in acquisitions and dispositions of over $10 billion in assets and seven initial public offerings of New York Stock Exchange companies. She sits on the boards of five New York Stock Exchange corporations: CVS Corporation, Equity LifeStyle Properties, Inc., Equity Residential Properties Trust, Equity Office Properties Trust, and Ventas, Inc.
